Bracket fungi beside the Thames near Oxford train station. (Taken this spring.) Love the velvety look! Not soft, though, in real life.

The brackets have broad fleshy velvety black centres, while there are bands of wavy cream & light grey and orange brown on their edges. You can see the grey tree bark at the top & bottom of the composition and here and there are patches of pale turqoise lichen and a one or two small spiky lime-green clumps of...? Some sort of different lichen?

Lovely day with family in London. Superb lunch near Portobello Road then the Van Gogh at the National Gallery. So many iconic images, as well as works not seen before. What bright and vibrant colours! It would be fascinating to know more about those paints!
