It could be that deliverism is less resilient to random shocks. Biden delivered a lot of good things, but post-pandemic global inflation negated them all. If you get elected on principles and cultural values, though, random events are less likely to undermine your support.

The American people were not duped. None of this is a surprise--he campaigned on "retribution." It would be nice if we could tell ourselves that we were tricked into fascism, but we weren't. We walked into it eyes wide open.
