Bloom's Revised Taxonomy. It gets some flak. But it still has its proponents. So I did a bit of digging, and uncovered a treasure trove.

It's not meant to be a pyramid. Here's the latest in our series, where I unpick just how much value it brings, if you dig into its deeper meaning.

Thoughts?
Second Bloom: In Support of Bloom's Revised Taxonomy
Revisiting this old favourite: how the revision is frequently misrepresented as a hierarchical pyramid, and the far-reaching implications of this for its value.

I’m at #LearningTechnologies in London today.

Already getting key themes coming through, so I thought I’d drop them here as they occur to me. Here goes…

Another in the series. I know it's not strictly a #LearningTheory. But it's central to most of them, and (IMHO) it has to form part of your overall #Learning experiences, whether they're digital, live, or #BlendedLearning.

Next up: TBC, but probably a look into #CommunitiesOfPractice in Learning!
Players or Spectators? Active Learning in Practice
How can you get people off the sidelines, and onto the pitch? Some thoughts on getting your learners involved in their learning.

Just like buses - nothing for ages, then two come along at once! This is on a Substack collaboration, where we'll be presenting learning theories in context through storytelling.
This month's: Vygotsky and the Zone of Proximal Development.

Get in the Zone: Vygotsky and the Zone of Proximal Development
Lev Vygotsky may have been practising some 100 years ago, but his concept of the Zone of Proximal Development is as relevant today as it was then.

A conversation on Active Learning yesterday triggered one of those 5 am streams of thought, particularly around questions as a formative learning tool.
Here's the (more coherent than at 5 am!) result, over on Substack. What are your thoughts?

More questions...
... about questions. With an honourable mention for Laurillard's learning types.

New year, new project! It'd been on my mind for a bit. Discussed it with someone whose opinion I value highly. As always, got totally engrossed in an enthusiastic, learning-centred chat about it. Anyway, it's now a collaboration between both of us! Subscribe here: open.substack.com/pub/learning...

Not sure whether I'm 8 days or 10 years late to this particular party! Either way, I'm so grateful to @andrewjacobslnd.bsky.social for highlighting it. A really insightful series.
And so it begins, revisiting #NoPlasters tweets from a decade ago. The first Tweet was;
2015: the year of How to Do things differently, daily sharing practical ideas on the How, as by now we all the Why

Mmmmm, I'm not sure we do actually understand the why enough, do we?

I do worry the internet can read my mind. Out walking the dog earlier, I was thinking about asking the BSky / Substack hiveminds to recommend reads for a first time book attempter.

Didn't say a word. Just thought it.

Came back to find this.

So anyway, any other suggestions for this proto-author?
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Bit of a change from the regularly scheduled programme of sci fi fiction but Le Guin's style guide is fantastic and hard recommend to anyone who does any kind of writing.

Well, now we're here in the Bluesky world...

Just as #BSky has seemingly, um, reached its sunrise moment in the social media landscape...

Think back through your earliest learning experiences. What one person stands out? Who was a beam of light for you, as you navigated the world?

And why?
