Thanks for the feedback. How do you "extract the fields into a Java object" in Java? Document does it for all fields. Do you mean lazily from RawBsonDocument?

You can store all that in MongoDB too, but databases are not just about storage - there's cheaper storage solutions. They are about indexing, updating, and accessing data with predictable performance, high availability with operational simplicity, elasticity to reduce cost

Beginners starting building applications, from a domain model, will go faster with MongoDB as they don't have to learn ORM and relational at the same time. Beginners who want to learn databases can start with PostgreSQL, as they don't need an application and play with SQL in command line

Another way to look at it: if I use an ORM, the DBA complains, so let's use MongoDB, and we don't even need to talk to a DBA 😂
