The first half is way stronger than it ever has been and the 2nd half sure is meh but Latino Michael Parks saves the 2nd half and then its the same old same old. Emotionally boring as always with the daughter stuff but the revenge stuff is good. They got rid of the Klingon quote in the beginning.

Got around to watching Polanski's adaptation of Macbeth. Only a dire land could bring forth such a dire tale. A lot more bloodshed and hopelessness than the other adaptations that I have seen so it wins out as possible the most faithful. Great stuff overall. Will see again soon.

This was pretty great. Sure it walks pass a few movies that I would have liked to read more about but as far as memoirs go, there is a real gritty sensibility to each and every chapter. Will probably get the audiobook which has Ferrara himself narrating. That guy talking is always good.

Years have passed since last seeing this. A sense of worry coming over me as I had the thought it wouldn't be as good as memory serves. I was wrong. Still great!

watching Jimmy Cliff and the boys watch Django was always a cinematic moment that struck a chord every once in a while to make me smile. Rest in Peace Jimmy Cliff.

in spending far more time watching trailers than films and i come across this preview of a real low budget Hallmark looking wholesome take about a cancer ridden teenager trying to get laid.

Billy Zane playing a true blue Jim Thompson character is the reason to see this since there's not much else there. Wish they had shot it in black & white. Might have given me enough of a reason to give it another watch.

What a lovely film. Catherine Deneuve ooh la la. Tony Scott was truly destined to make films because what a debut. Wholly original in style. Shame this didn't hit big when it released as Tony Scott would have made Man on Fire the first time around and we wouldn't have to deal with Top Gun.

it is nice knowing that the narrator for the Shaft trailer informed all potential viewers of asking permission from their mother to see a R rated film.

Some might say this is Larry Cohen's Gran Torino and they would be wrong as Gran Torino is Clint Eastwood's Original Gangsters. A solid movie that plays more exploitation than straight drama but with the failed American city Gary, Indiana as background; a real weight exists in the characters world.

people always complain about trailers being terrible but i have never seen anyone complain about the masterpiece that is the Taxi Driver DVD release trailer. Just perfection.

the story of a middle aged terrible father/terrible doctor/terrible ex-husband solving the uninteresting mystery that's been presented to the viewer. Breaking his code of ethics, hooks up with a dead patients daughter to solve this mystery that ultimately doesn't amount to anything. What a shame.

I don't think the two leads ever embraced one another like this poster suggests but its easy to see why that would be the selling point. A lighter Casablanca if you will except with a better outcome for everyone involved. Even the drunk gets a good ending.

The cover art is an example of all sizzle no steak but i had a good time. A bit too much nudity but the music video of 'Jurassic Punk' jumping into the narrative halfway through is something i can appreciate. That moment reminded me of 'Body Double'. Always a plus when I get to think of that movie.

Spent the day getting to know a new movie. Possibly the greatest film to come out of 1983? If you try hard enough, it sure can be. Good time all around especially Cyclops throwing his trident to kill over and over again. Also, Cyclops is the true hero and should have gotten the girl at the end.
