Just over from Twitter/X. Concerned about Covid/climate change/misinformation.

I know a lot of scientists who honestly cannot understand why one should still worry about catching Covid. I guess they never saw any of the scientific literature on what Covid does to the body and only rely on their own experience and what they see around them.

For me the price difference is too big to go for the brand option. The foods are checked for safety, so it is mostly a matter of taste. The supermarket's own brands I find good enough.
November 16, 2025 at 7:16 PM
The prices to compare here are the leftmost and third item from the left. Again, three times as expensive.
November 16, 2025 at 6:39 PM
Here the brand must be really special, because it is almost three times as expensive.

There is a bit more beans in the brand packaging, but per 100g it is still more than twice the price of the beans from the supermarket's own brand. Are the beans twice as good?
November 16, 2025 at 6:34 PM
So you pay about twice as much for the nicely designed packaging?

Depends on how many people are in the space. If there are more you can argue that someone else could be exhaling virus. Or you could argue that the people before them in the room spoiled the air.

We will have to wait and see how bad the fall-out of neurological disease will be from the ongoing denial of Covid harm.

In Europe people mock you for wearing a mask. It would already help a bit if they would at least be understanding that some people want to try and stay healthy.

What is it what we want to know? We know that Trump is treating women like sex objects. www.youtube.com/watch?v=WhsS...

People in the US preferred a man talking about women as sexual objects over a black well-spoken woman. www.youtube.com/watch?v=WhsS...

In the Netherlands everyone wants you to join their normal of not protecting your health.
November 16, 2025 at 5:34 AM
Yes, they think that the person with the FFP2 mask is sick, but not the other person in the waiting room coughing up a lung without a mask.
November 16, 2025 at 5:32 AM
Yes, there is an advantage of food standards.
November 16, 2025 at 5:31 AM
That says to me that it is big companies driving up the prices, just because they can (people will buy it anyway).
November 16, 2025 at 5:05 AM
In the Netherlands only the branded products have gone up in price, not the store own brands. Still, people buy the branded products, because they think that if you pay more, you get a better product. BBC's Eat Well for Less shows that you do not need the brands to eat well.

I am not asking them to mask, but I do wear a mask myself. They never offer to also wear one, so I guess that means I made the right choice not asking them. Sometimes they shrug, but then will not say anything about my mask.
November 14, 2025 at 11:13 AM
Yes, always stressful. Sometimes I text them in advance to let them know that I will mask and will not eat or drink together indoors.

Yes, there is so much research available, and none says that Covid is just like the common cold. Maybe the problem is that there is so much, because it is impossible to read it all.

A few months ago Grok was still giving adequate information about Covid and long Covid. In recent weeks, it has turned to "it is all vaccines" and "it is all lockdowns".
November 14, 2025 at 5:32 AM
I am not one of them. Should everyone have a career? Nowadays you should also be immune to Covid and long Covid. That's not me either. Let the rest do the careers thing.

Maar dan ook geen Netflix of andere videodiensten. Goede ouderwetse boeken, uit de bieb.
