📊We extend motif analysis to directed hypergraphs, capturing recurring patterns of directed interactions -> it reveals frequent microscale structures and highlights key organizational principles, like feedback 🔄 and reinforcement 💪 mechanisms in group dynamics.

🔄 We introduce three measures for higher-order reciprocity in directed hypergraphs: exact, strong and weak. Each offers a different perspective on how group interactions can be reciprocated -> all systems show reciprocity, but specific patterns vary across domains.

🐾We provide a fingerprint of higher-order connectivity that captures the diversity in systems’ patterns of directed hyperedges -> we compute distances among hypergraphs and highlight systems sharing similar characteristics

↔️ Directed hypergraphs enhance modeling by distinguishing between source and target sets in each hyperedge, capturing the directional nature of many real-world interactions, including Bitcoin transactions, metabolic networks and citation data.
