Mads Mikkelsen in 2024 still talking about a possible Season 4 of #Hannibal revives my tired old soul! 😭♥️

And this is why the Hannibal fandom is still going strong almost a decade after the show ended! 😂

The final #FinishUrBookFall part 2 = check-in. A Remedy of Love is first-drafted, clocking in at 85,362 words. Thing is, I wrote it during lockdown! This exercise has coaxed it out for a much-needed airing, and my aim is to second-draft it by the end of 2024. 🤞🏻 #writerslife

The final #FinishUrBookFall part 1 = my creative process. Best part: the research, losing myself in a bygone era, wandering around countless stately homes as scenes from the novel unfold in my mind. Worst part: with a full-time job and a family, finding the time to write!

#FinishUrBookFall this week = side character! My favourite in A Remedy of Love is the Dowager Viscountess Forsythe - Stoker to her friends - a vastly eccentric aunt of Lucian’s who resides in Berkeley Square. Her pet mynah bird, Mason, delights in hurling insults at visitors. 😂

#FinishUrBookFall = book love! Rather than reccing a recent read, I’m going to rec my favourite novel and chief inspiration: Pride & Prejudice by Jane Austen. It’s witty, arch, romantic, clever, timeless. An original choice? Hardly. But it’s the reason I write so 🤷‍♀️.

This week’s #FinishUrBookFall: goals! So. My dreams for this book? 1) That I finish it by next spring. 2) That it ends up being a book that I’m proud to call mine. 3) That it finds its audience, wherever and however that may be. 4) That it makes people happy.

This week’s #FinishUrBookFall is about setting! A Remedy for Love takes place in the spring to autumn of 1811. As with all of my books, it is set primarily in Derbyshire, England (well, they do say write what you know!), with forays to London’s Mayfair and Harrogate, Yorkshire.

#FinishUrBookFall: which song encapsulates my project? Natalie Imbruglia’s Torn fits pretty well. A Remedy of Love is about two people who fall headlong into love even as they realise that it’s impossible because of a bitter divide between their families. 💔

#FinishUrBookFall this week = the fantasy book launch! My dream location? Chatsworth House! Outfit? Regency, inspired by Judy Parfitt’s superb Lady Catherine de Bourgh (1980, BBC). Food: afternoon tea in the sculpture gallery, with floral displays and tiny bird cages. Such fun!

#FinishUrBookFall this week = fan cast! So I’m going with my photo inspirations. In the main roles of Lucian and Pip: Mark Randall and a young Hugh Dancy (confession - young Hugh is my writing muse!). For the boys’ runaway siblings: Callum Turner and Anya Taylor Joy. ♥️

Sharing my book’s inspiration for this week’s #FinishUrBookFall - Jane Austen but make it gay! In point of fact, that’s the basic premise of all my books…

This week’s #FinishUrBookFall is about the main conflict. When Lucien’s sister and Pip’s brother go missing, their budding romance is rocked by resentment. But they have to set aside their suspicions - and fierce attraction - and work together to avoid a huge family scandal!

Found myself thinking about the superb 1983 BBC ‘Jane Eyre’, starring Zelah Clarke and Timothy Dalton. I looked it up, and spookily realised that the first episode aired 40 years ago tomorrow! I remember teaching the novel to rapt Year 9s and showing them this production. Ah, those were the days!

Time to talk MCs for #FinishUrBookFall! Lucky Lefroy is heir to his father’s estate in Derbyshire. Returning from self-imposed exile to visit his sister Hetty, he meets Pip, a young man whose company grows ever more compelling - until Hetty disappears and it seems that Pip’s family is responsible!

Sharing my aesthetic for #FinishUrBookFall. A Remedy of Love is a Regency mlm romance novel that I wrote during lockdown. It’s about first loves, family betrayals, and torn loyalties. Time to revisit and edit, edit, edit!

Spelling tip: it’s led (rhymes with bed) when it happened in the past; it’s lead (rhymes with peed) when it’s happening now or in the future.
