The purpose of a system is what it does.

If this was a system for anything other than spam and vitriol and politicians, it would reward good behavior.

Instead it rewards horrible, terrifying parasocial sin-eaters.

It should show me posts older than 12 hours, and punish people who post too much.

So my payoff is nada. My content is stolen and iterated on forever (which is fine, it's all Copyleft) and I help improve the platform and pour lots of my personal time and energy into individuals on the platform...

Drowned out by loud trolls with huge followings and horrible views.

Maybe self hosting my PDS and curating my own algorithms and adding the ability to batch schedule and queue posts and stuff will help but here's the thing, bluesky: what is my payoff investing all that time and energy?

You've created a space where spam and advertising is it's only valid use case and many of the users are just looking to spam and advertise themselves (for worshippers, girlfriends, job prospects).

The strategy here on the sky is to flood the zone with bullshit and gish gallop and just overwhelm everyone. If you don't do that you're punished and your posts become ephemeral and temporal as peoples follow feed is fucking dominated by loudmouths saying nothing at all.
