Had incredible fun doing the first ever LED #dawnpatrol SkyGlow. #Ballooning before sunrise is extraordinary itself, let alone in a giant luminous psychedelic artwork!

A beautiful flight early this morning, launched almost an hour before sunrise in total darkness. My first ever #DawnPatrol - amazing!

Beautiful day for high school soccer in #Abq. Go Bosque!

Glimpses of a crazy gothic Mandelbox fractal hot air balloon, just some ideas I’m playing with. Not there yet, but I’m having fun…

Had an extraordinarily beautiful flight today at Los Luceros #NM, playing in the foggy Rio Grande and the luminous cottonwoods - magical! Even caught sight of #Zozobra!

Playing with 3D #fractals. Would you fly a #Mandelbox #balloon?
October 17, 2025 at 1:53 AM
Seems like the world could use more peace, joy and beauty, so I decided to fly a tiedyed peace banner at #BalloonFiesta. Did it help? I don’t know, but I hope it inspired some people. The world needs artists, this much I know.

Great to see people appreciating my art! Thanks for sharing - it’s always so good to see pics :)

Been having a terrific time at #BalloonFiesta in #Abq. So glad my crew was there to catch me during this high speed landing! That was an intense situation that worked out safely thanks to all involved. Amazing!
October 9, 2025 at 2:57 AM
People people, a minimum of fact checking please - this is a gas balloon, not a hot air balloon. No fire, no heat. No pilot. And no color. Boring! Here is what hot air balloons can look like :)
October 6, 2025 at 7:52 PM
The world could use a little more peace, so I decided to fly something a little special today at #BalloonFiesta. I call this tapestry the PeaceFlower.

I’ve had the huge honor of meeting Sir Tim - inventor of the WWW - a number of times and have the greatest respect for him. Here he shares a beautiful vision for putting people in charge of the governance of AI so it serves society’s interests, not big tech’s. www.theguardian.com/technology/2...

Such a beautiful ecosystem. I just read the amazing book Finding the Mother Tree by @drsuzannesimard.bsky.social and all I can think about is how trees are so connected with the creatures around them.
An old rainforest oak like this, thick with epiphytes and ivy, is more than just a tree.

It's a mini ecosystem. 🌏

Proposal: Save 30% of land and sea for nature by 2030. Strong support by people around the world. That our economic and political system will resist this vigorously only means… they need to change!

I so appreciate the little things I see in other countries that show they value the little people. Free public toilets in parks in Canada; upper and lower handrails on stairways in Norway; months and months of parental leave almost everywhere…
The well-being of children is a darn good indicator of priorities of a society.

So glad I discovered the wonderfully imaginative David Zinn on Bluesky! Follow and enjoy :)
I can never be 100% sure that Sluggo will make an appearance in a drawing… but if there’s a grill, he’s more likely to turnip.

Loving the book I’m in the middle of, “Finding the Mother Tree” by @drsuzannesimard.bsky.social Continually awestruck by the complexity of trees and forests, and now to learn about this amazing microbiome of trees…
Nothing - even you - is alone in this vastly interconnected web.
Like humans, every tree has its own microbiome — an invisible ecosystem that is only beginning to be understood.

It’s been a long time since I’ve made any tiedyes, and I’ve been having fun getting back into the art form! Here are a couple of fractal inspired tapestries that I’ve made and given to friends as backdrops for their bands. Cool!

This thread holds the wisdom we need to remember in these difficult times. Dr Sawin expresses it better than I can and uses the structure of fractals beautifully to illustrate how we can shift the system into one of coherence, care, and beauty.
It's easy to feel small right now.
When I do, I picture my favorite fractal (OK I don't have a favorite, I love them all, but you get the point).
I picture a fern, a tree, a capillary bed, a river delta, neurons branching.

So many interesting technological, social, legal and political issues with this app. It allows people to anonymously report sightings of ICE agents so people can avoid those areas. It’s done with complete privacy, no user accounts, and no data tracking at all. www.theguardian.com/us-news/2025...
