I legit thought this dude was satire, because his posts were so consistently fake and unhinged. He's a real person??

A class on what? Stupid fucking ideas? I've been in the business of writing software for 2 decades and have made plenty of controls. There are very robust address generation and validation tools that use FAR less compute. The rest of your JSON formatting is also extremely trivial, like 5 lines.

As a senior dev who has done quite a bit of experimentation with Claude, if Claude is capable of writing all the code you need to write, you aren't writing very impactful code. Claude is about as good at programming as a recently-graduated Infosys major. Which is very impressive, but also not.

Apathy towards this subject is the bellwether of tyranny. For when governments feel they can ignore the plight of others without suffering the scorn of their own citizens, the next step is in the division and persecution of the 'enemies' within the state. Thank you for your humanity.

This internet stranger is proud of you. Some of these books can be difficult reads, but others are both easy to read, and excellent books that stand the test of time not only for their content and themes, but also because they're just damn good stories. Enjoy :)

It was a wake-up call for a young, sheltered, WASP-y, pillowy-soft kid. I have found that when people experience the humanity of the individuals on the other side of an ideological divide, the span of that divide drastically shortens and you see the commonalities. If only everyone had that chance.

Before those summers. I was ambivalent towards immigration. "Why don't they just apply for green cards?" I came to the conclusion that if you've fled being killed by gangs or traveled 3000+ miles hitchhiking, then you deserve a shot at the American dream.

Martin, who collected the doors and windows we tore out of renovations and drove a dump truck full of reclaimed materials back home every year, to help build up his neighborhood back in Guatemala.

Everyone was working HARD for pops. Everyone had struggled to get to the US.

I learned the background of the dozen or so employees over those summers.

Rosa, who had been a Drug enforcement cop and got outed. She fled with her daughter across the Rio Grande while another member of her family drowned.

Israel, who had a large family here but wanted to retire back home.

Being the grunt, I worked closely with the crews. I learned enough Spanish to ask & answer questions. After a few summers I got my drivers license and I started driving people to the job sites - being in the car with AC was a luxury compared to loading trash or demo.

When I was a teenager, I couldn't find a job so I got hired by my dad. His employees figured I was going to get the easy office jobs, because I was the boss' kid. Pops didn't like that, so instead I was the lowest paid, most manual labor tasked "sweep-dee" in the company.

He always had his employees provide him a SSN - sometimes he had to ask them to pick another one because it was a duplicate of another on file 😅. But he figured as long as everyone was paying taxes, everyone was going to be okay and there wasn't a need to ask too many questions. 2/...

My Father ran a light construction company for 40+ years. He was a great boss and had very competitive pay, so lots of employees would recruit their family. He had many employees who had work with him for 10+ years, and others who he helped start their own companies. 1/...
