This is the first time I've actually set out candy! Having a playlist blasting while setting everything up gives me the same warm fuzzies as decorating for Christmas, I'm finally starting to see the appeal! I have color changing bulbs in my living room, so the candle light setting was a perfect spooky window effect! This year I actually found a proper tail, and only two people called me a cat! I guess that's been the missing key in the several years I've done some iteration of this costume. 🤣 This makeup is actually pretty simplified since I had to work this morning so it was being applied before dawn. Usually I use a lot of bronzer around most of my face, and white eyeshadow from the nose down. It got better as it got darker outside! I went out for a drink as I usually do on Halloween, but honestly I think next year will finally be the time I stay in and pass out candy! Happy Halloween everyone, I hope it was filled with whimsy, magic, and as much candy as you can handle!

Absolutely adorable bud vase, Mayco stroke and coat "java bean" in the texture, under Amaco Jade, with a gold rim, that dripped a bit. While the colors are stunning, I was really expecting those spots to bleed a lot more, it's "Running Chowder" I'll try this color combo on something else again. I don't remember the name of this one just a crystal glaze that's super pretty 😍 I'll try and get better shots without so much glare. So, turns out Koi Pond is supposed to be low firing anyway, we may grind down the blisters and re-glaze. Has anyone tried it? Should I add another coat of Koi, or maybe an Amaco Celadon?

Trimmed up the pumpkins I threw last week, and decided to mess around, turn them into actual Jack O Lanterns and managed to impress myself with how absolutely adorable they are! I can't wait to get these fired through! The holes in the bottom are big enough for tea lights too!

This is apparently an Oil Beetle, Meloe Violaceus and from my understanding is supposed to be fairly rare? I know I've never seen one before in my life. An Oil Beetle, Meloe Violaceus, chilling on a chunk of concrete. My understanding is that these are fairly rare. They secrete an oil that causes severe blistering when squished. Pretty cool looking though!

This is going to be Jungle Gems, in Koi Pond, with Mayco stroke and coat on the bottom. What sort of elitist, pretentious snobbery hates on these????? I have all of the control and finesse of my underglazes, they're completely mixable, and can fire to ANY TEMPERATURE? The sorcery is astounding! I can't wait to see how this turns out! This is Amaco Celadon series in Jade, topped with a metallic gold rim.

The top view of the teapot I just made, destined to be an outdoor decoration on the sign for the new studio! I've only dabbled in silicone molds and didn't have much luck, it was really fun to play around with these! A side view of the teapot, using silicone flower molds to make a little knob shape rather than traditional button/mushroom things. The funky vase I threw as a photo demonstration for the studios website is going to do some pretty cool things with these glazes, at least I hope anyway! A simple cup shape from a class demonstration has a paint-on crystal glaze I'm in love with. It's so exciting to be firing again, and just playing with glaze! My line of products is pretty straightforward, painted and dipped in clear so it's fun to let loose and go wild with the class demonstrations!

It was an absolutely magical day, so my partner and I went berry picking, and I made my first ever flower crown! They're Pearly Everlasts and Queen Anne Lace, which I'm hoping will dry beautifully.

Pearly Everlasts and Queen Anne Lace I wove together in my very first flower crown!!! I've never made a flower crown before, I was inspired by an Instagram creator I follow, if I find him here I'll definitely tag him. These are flowers called Pearly Everlasts and Queen Anne Lace, which I'm hoping are going to dry beautifully! I like playing with different textures of the same color, and I'm really hoping these Pearly Everlasts and Queen Anne Lace will stay beautiful as they dry It's bigger and more lush and full than I imagined I would get out of a first attempt, and I'm just THRILLED with how it turned out! I couldn't resist taking actual nice photos to show it off 😆

The cutest widdle flip flop puppy ears in the whole world, chilling next to my fire pit with the cast iron bean pot full of turkey and rice I just pulled out. A Gazillion bubbles is maybe just a couple too many 🤣 It does looke absolutely awesome though, and is supposed to help keep mosquitoes and gnats away!

Tonight was my second teaching experience, amazing! Playing with this clay I am thoroughly impressed! I kept trying to demonstrate a flop, but this holds up AMAZINGLY! A perfect beginner clay, it's Laguna, I'll have to get the number tomorrow. #pottersofbluesky #teaching #new #clay #test #class #yay
I was testing how well this clay body could hold up to a wide, flat rim on this little bowl and it did shockingly well! It's stickier than my porcelain, but still very smooth since there is no grog. I wanted to really push this clay, but it took this flared out rim with ease! Not so much as a wobble, and I gave the wheel a hard spin with a sudden stop too. I've added lots of water, thrown it very dry, pushed large bellies out of it, now this very wide, flat rim and the clay holds up beautifully. It doesn't like to be as thin as my porcelain so far, but that may come with practice. I'm going to test my colors on one of the demonstration mugs I made prior to classes starting, and if it works as well as I expect I may just make the switch!

My first clay class, and their work! None of them had ever really used a pottery wheel before, but they all seemed to enjoy it! Quite the collection considering they were all total novices and only had an hour! Profile view of my first student's pots An overview of my first student's pots, they did really well! What a shape! This is a phenomenal piece! The student selected their other two to have fired, but I don't have the heart to reclaim this lovely little cup! So it will be bisqued, and hang out in the studio as an example piece. Total novice, but look at how even, and nicely finished that rim is, with a cute little foot and everything!

I stuffed mini peppers with a mix of ground turkey, chive and onion cream cheese, double cheddar, and cilantro. DELICIOUS, and pairs well with a hard iced tea and lofi beats. My recent move into a space with a yard and lots of birds made me want to start a little journal to record things like seasonal firsts, and recently I had the idea that a daily planner could actually be perfect. Walked into Walgreens and found THIS! It starts now and then continues through the entirety of next year so I'm not leaving half a planner empty 😂 And it's in my color scheme! I found another Umbrella polypore in some of my favorite bit of woods around here! My first encounter was last season, they're quite tasty. My yard is full of burdock, and I think these little blooms are absolutely adorable. I'm excited to dig most of them up though, I've never tried burdock root! If I do get to stay here I'll be landscaping with a lot of native wild food like sweetferns.

I don't usually post my meals, but I GREW those radishes myself! They're amazing with a bit of Kerry Gold, that I sprinkled with a bit of black salt and a crack of smoked peppercorns. I didn't like gardening growing up, but being able to EAT what I grow is the most satisfying magic in the world.
Mini peppers, cornichons, sugar bomb tomatoes, and radishes I just plucked fresh as my first harvest of the year pair fantastically with Kerry Gold butter, Ithaca Hummus in the Lemon Beet and French Onion varieties, all on a plate I made myself!

I've found a new opportunity to begin teaching in-person classes in a few weeks, so today we threw some random forms to test out the new wheels and get some photos for the website! This one is nice enough I'll actually finish it with a handle and everything too. This sample mug is thrown the same way I usually do, with a slightly different foot trimming tool, and will also have a handle and be used for a glaze demonstration. The owner of the new studio has a selection of specialty ribs, and I thought I'd try one out for fun. I'm actually really happy with this little guy and decided it will also be fired and glazed!
