And yes I saw several (including other famous authors and friends of his) in that camp as well. Not...denying the accusations, just unsure how to react. Wanting more information.

I was admittedly in the uncertain group, but dropped him before the article came out when he *admitted* the things had happened but claimed they were 'consensual.' Because even IF he'd been telling the truth at that point, his actions were skeevy as shit & he was not the person he'd claimed to be.

IIRC there's been at least 1 accuser since. Also, we wouldn't really know if he'd repeated the sin... just that he hasn't been caught 🤷♀️
(Not w/ Polanski but I've seen 'never did it to anyone else' used to argue a victim was lying because 'if he'd really done it' there would have been others.)

And this is the thing. I don't care what the specific term for their attraction is. For that matter a large portion of those in prison for sex crimes against children aren't attracted to kids AT ALL. Attracted to X kids, attracted to Y kids, not attracted to kids. It doesn't matter! they raped kids!

I'm just flummoxed a con would ever include a morality clause. You're not a representative of the con, you're not an employee, you are a GUEST making an appearance. One of presumably many. Nothing you do outside the con reflects on it in any way.

I mean shortly after the pandemic an email from the CEO of Kroger got leaked where he was gloating about how they were using the supply chain issue to sneak in price hikes well beyond what the supply chain problems were actually costing them. And after it leaked...absolutely nothing changed.
