A while back we bought both units of a duplex in Massachusetts so my spouse and I could live in one unit and are chosen sister could live in the other, in a building about 100 years old. We just filled up our second dumpster full of stuff left behind by prior tenants.

I'm delighted to suspend my disbelief for a magical monster hero, but not three days with no food and the heroine isn't hungry. Not an illiterate girl in a mountainous region who describes a shade as flamingo pink. Just be internally consistent. Dnf.

I would love a home decor magazine that actually talked about how easy something was to clean. I am so tired of kitchen backsplashes that are made of raw unsealed stone, range hoods and lamps made of unsealed copper or brass, slate walkways that are made on a slant instead of with steps.

You know the nurse has ticked off the doctor when the doc arrives unscheduled without makeup and hair still wet to overrule a petty tyrant and proceeds to kill time talking about music for nearly half an hour so the nurse can't just hide and has to face the music.

I did some Honey-do work and got kind of sweaty but mostly dried back off by the time my werewolfy wife came to help. She likes to chew romantically between neck and shoulder, and I got surprised delight and a lot more chewing, apparently I taste like Lay's original potato chips.

Welp, I got to say "leave the babies alone, come at me, bch" at work today.... College hires don't know jack yet, that's the point of them, they're cheap. They do what they're told. You don't like what they did, you go to their manager, not them. No Karen-ing allowed.

The earflapping of an elderly dachshund requesting to be carried outside to take care of his business is to be ignored at one's peril.

ok, so maybe it isn't high literature, but I am enjoying the heck out of AJ Sherwood's books. Pure escapism and absolutely delightful. Leverage crossed with Supernatural.

Sometimes, things hit in ways they didn't before. So. Starting here, not waiting for a better time, just start here.... I've been using Habitica for a few months and that's really helping. Now onto YNAB. I don't have to do it well, I just have to do it. Get through beginner to get to experienced.

Welp, turns out that my decorating style has a name, "whimsigoth". So, with this encouragement, I think I'll be ordering more candles....

I love Pride with the open compliments towards anything that is appreciated, kiddos running around being themselves and seeing that it's okay to do that even when you're grown, seeing people who maybe aren't my kin, but definitely my kith.

One of the calls at work that I never go to, but I do get to see the chat of it, has wandered very far off the rails into memes about dark shadows, Supernatural TV show, necromancers, and sacrifices to the old gods. I think the servers are having trouble again...

Listening to the lecture at work about what to do to get promoted, after being told for two years that I've done everything and it's certain. And I keep getting asked to do work way above my level. But in this economy, in this political climate, I'm just going to hold on.

So, my better-habits app says for me to reach out to friends, even online.... So. hi. Love y'all. I'm an introverted recluse, but y'all knew that already. So. Did the thing.

Went to the combined Pride and No King's yesterday in Boston. It was relieving in a breakdown kind of way to be surrounded by people it was safe to be around.

Having to travel to Texas. Feels like going to a third world country. Eradicated diseases run wild, broken power grid, healthcare run by religion, my wife would not be safe from attack, abysmal education, marginally better in the cities, etc.

Snow warning tonight, errands accomplished yesterday, taking today off and trying not to think about the world falling apart for a day of rest. Very grateful for my chosen family.

Had to take my pronouns off my work email today. I might not be fired, but I got shoved firmly into the closet.

I've been NC with my family for many years. I do hear things fifth-hand. I didn't think it could, but it hurt a lot to hear he's still staunch in supporting people who want to send me and mine to a concentration camp or dead.

I got to tell an uncertain junior at work that they should be proud of the work they're doing because I'd just been told I was envied by managers for having them on my team. I don't control money, but I'm determined to do my best for my team in any way I can. People deserve their praise.

I don't like shoveling snow, so this year has been pretty good, but we should get about a half foot tonight and that is about perfect. Just enough to make it pretty without it being more than the plows can handle. Each season has its beauty.

One of the economies of wfh is having one car for the household. I got an electric scooter with a seat for the few exceptions, like today's dentist visit. Best decision ever, and tons of fun.
