Many aeons ago, as a teenager, I played and sang in a psych-folk-rock band called Mellow Candle (that's me on the right). Alison, the lead singer, just joined Bluesky....still singing beautifully and releasing lovely things - give her a follow! @alisonodonnell.bsky.social.

Taken circa 1971, EVERYONE has hair that's at least shoulder length long. Willy sports a floppy wide brimmed hat,(which he didn't always wear), Dave a red velvet skullcap (which he did always wear) we all look soooo young, (Alison and I were still teenagers!) and we are clearly a bunch of good hippies.

For anyone in Irl or UK, facing into the storm tonight/tomorrow - this is a really good tip, if by any chance you get caught out with a phone about to lose charge.....stay safe, all!
"If you are ever lost while hiking, get stranded with a broken down car, etc., and you notice your mobile phone is either low on battery or has no signal, here is a tip that very well may save your life. Change the voicemail on your phone to a message that gives your approx location, the time, the date, your situation (lost, out of gas, car broken down, injured etc.) and any special instructions such as you are staying with the car, you are walking toward a town, etc. The best part of this is that even if your mobile phone dies or stops working, voicemail still works, so anyone calling your phone looking for you will hear the message and know where to find you or where to send help. Pass the message on - it may help save a life."

HAPPY 🎄HOLIDAYS to all holidaymakers, and here’s to the light that the darkness can’t overcome……
My beautiful Bluthner upright has miraculously sprouted all manner of fairy lights, several candles, a big green illuminated star, various shiny spherical orbs, and an Our Lady Of The Sign. No idea how this happened, but Fovea Hex has survived 2024, phew.....

night night, I'm off to Planet Pomegranate.
A mediaeval looking painting of someone who looks as though they're inside of a bell jar, gazing through tendrils of an indeterminate plant , with leaves, some of which seem to be hosting insects, larvae - there's also a wasp or a bee, and other creatures hard to determine (it's pretty surrealistic). There are also pomegranates- I think? Though they could almost be walnuts....split open..... and what looks like some pomegranate seeds have drifted into a huge drop of water, which is touching the outstretched left palm of the person gazing out. Their right hand holds a stem from which most of the tendrils arise.

Satellite picture (courtesy of Windy.com weather) showing little old Ireland sitting there, minding its own business, greeny blue, facing the Atlantic - where a HUGE CRIMSON AND PURPLE MAD GIANT SWIRL OF ISOBARS HURLS TOWARDS IT, eeeeeeeeeeek....the mild edge of it has just hit land (and yes, the wind is howling already) but I'd say that looks like hours and hours of worse and worse....

The impression is of symmetry, but in fact there are lots of irregularities, so that it looks very alive....

the original. a face carved not from a plump glossy orange pumpkin but from a turnip ("swede" to some), as we in Ireland - who frankly invented Halloween - knew nothing about pumpkins and Thanksgiving hadn't been invented yet. Nuthin jolly about this guy, he looks bleak, grim and pained, and would chill your heart.
