I absolutely love working with offcuts
Not only do I use my own, I buy them from sawmills to avoid them going in the fire
Not only is it super sustainable, it also means you get stuff made from some amazing materials at bargain prices

A significant number of brush rests organised in a square. The rests are narrow rectangles of wood with five grooves in them to hold the brushes. There is a mix of bright and dark colours, including orangey red, cream and several shades of brown and purpley black. Some have been highlighted with the species of wood. I have some designs and products which I like to keep in regular stock. Like my painting handles, which have proven popular enough that for the first time ever I'm outsourcing some of my production to another UK based wood turner.

But my favourite things are always one off statement pieces
A long dice vault, made from pink ivory. An exotic wood which is naturally vivid pink in colour. It is a rare wood, which I only use when I am able to source it ethically through my trusted suppliers A small dice cup made from padauk. An orangey wood. Sat on top of a blank which is very similar to the one it was made from A dice offering bowl. A bowl with a large rim featuring individual spaces for the seven dice in a standard polyhedral set. The outside and rim of the bowl have been charred so they are a burned black. The inside of the bowl is light ash coloured A painting handle as used by David Dolliver. It has a round base, which tapers to a narrow neck. A short cylinder head is placed on it using magnets. A small model is then affixed to the head

Spending the weekend helping fell a wind-damaged ash tree

When trees become damaged or suffer from disease (as this one is) You can see a result of the dieback in the last picture) felling them is often the safest and best solution

Look out for some of this becoming bowls in about two years!
