“Ukraine already has guarantees that turned out to be empty. Ukraine gave up its nuclear arsenal and allegedly received a guarantee of inviolability of borders from Russia. The United Kingdom, the United States, France, and China were present there. Are you saying to give guarantees in case of a repeated Russian attack? What do you mean by that? Does this mean that we will start a war with Russia? Because if the guarantees are to be effective, they should mean exactly that - the beginning of a war with Russia. If the guarantees are empty, they harm the recipient. We should not go down this path. Therefore, if we give guarantees, they must be real,” Sikorsky said.

The Trump administration has pressured Romanian authorities to lift travel restrictions on Andrew Tate, a supporter of the US president who is facing criminal charges in Bucharest, the Financial Times reports. Andrew and his brother, Tristan Tate, who have dual US and British citizenship, were arrested in Romania in 2022 and charged with human trafficking, rape and money laundering, as well as forming an organised crime group. They have denied the charges. The Tate brothers’ case was first raised by US officials in a phone call with the Romanian government last week and was then pursued by Trump’s special envoy, Richard Grenell, when he met with the Romanian foreign minister at the Munich Security Conference, three sources familiar with the matter told the Financial Times.

A bunch of extremely interesting coincidences, in no particular order: Mastodon had existed for 3 years before blueksy started their own competing federated protocol in 2019 After 5 years, there are ZERO alternative bsky websites for normal people to use ('hosting a docker container' ain't it) DMs are not part of the AT protocol, and go via bsky The protocol design makes it prohibitively expensive to host your own server The AT protocol is not an internet standard (activitypub is W3C) The "discover" feed is algorithmically sorted by bsky. bsky stopped being a "public benefit LLC" in July 2023, when they had an $8mil seed funding round. Their lead investor was "Blockchain Capital". Who now sit on their board.🙄

When I asked people on Bluesky why they left X, a number of them said it was because they didn’t want their posts to be used to train AI. However since Bluesky has an open API, anyone can scrape all of your posts and use them to train AI. A HuggingFace employee has already made a dataset of 1M BlueSky posts available. A reasonable assumption is that if you post anything online, it’ll be used to train AI.
