Her competitors were unprepared (Humphreys - she stepped up after McGuinness pulled out) and unpreparable (the novice sporting candidate Gavin). Most people voted for her because she was only quality candidate, willing to put up with her idiosyncrasies

It's a paradox because you wouldn't exist only for the displacement, I'm descended from families with Ulster names in Drumlish Longford. A lot of Ultaigh entered the parish in 18th c fleeing south.

In Ireland, especially the western side, my ancestors spoke Gaelic until turn of 20th century and were known to each other by Gaelic names, yet you won't find hardly any records in Gaelic- first names are in Latin or English ciphers, while surnames are in anglicized form only

Cuirimse an-spéis i stair na sloinnte freisin - meascán mearaí agus roinnt mhaith leaganacha malartacha le fáil - Ryan a shíl mé a bhí i máthair mo mháthar, ach Royan a bhí orthu sna taifid, agus gaolta Ruane acu ón dna - is dócha gur Ó Ruaidhín a bhíodh orthu, inmhalartaithe le Ó Ruadháin

They weren't dumped. They were placed in chambers in a repurposed septic tank. The mortality rates were indeed off the charts. There's no indication so far of anything other than natural causes, plus being concentrated and neglected didn't help. The thing im interested in is how m' were sold abroad?

Where else would they be buried? They were children's homes ffs. There are mass graves all over Ireland anywhere there were institutions

The poorest townlands in my parish, Liscannanane and Grange West, had many landless people in 1841 - over 900 and 100 respectively. In 1851 they had 280 and 14 people left. Overall the parish of Lackagh went from 4110 in 1841 to 2400 in 1851. My townland Grange East went from 161 to 158!
