This was a truly great question that deserved such a thoughtful response. Thanks for sharing it.

4. No last shot - Don't let your opponent milk the clock for the last shot! Force the ball out of the middle and trap the corners (an aggressive 1-3-1 is great here).

Any non-wide open shot taken between 35-10 seconds on the game clock allowed is an expected points win for you.

3. Punish the sub - Did your opponent just put in a non-shooter off the bench? Give him the "dork" coverage treatment and send his defender to trap the ball.

It's hard to hit shots coming in cold off the bench, and missing a wide open one right away can make them even more hesitant to attack.

2. Late quarter fouling - Less than two minutes left in the quarter with multiple fouls to give? Let your team know they can be WAY more physical, especially off the ball.

These are free opportunities to hunt for steals, and you’ll be surprised how much you can actually get away with.

1. ATO Defense - Change it! Coaches will typically draw up a play in the timeout for whatever defense you've been in -- switching defenses for THIS POSSESSION ONLY (make sure you say that) can derail your opponent.

The junkier, the better.
