Jesus follower -- lifting the voice of love through spiritually grounded, joy-fueled activism
"Freedom is not a state; it is an act. It is not some enchanted garden... where we can finally sit down and rest. Freedom is the continuous action we all must take, and each generation must do its part to create an even more fair, more just society."
—John Lewis, Across That Bridge

"Courage is not a calculation of the mind. It is a choice of the heart. We are here because we choose courage." Valarie Kaur from the protests in LA. Revolutionary Love!

Yesterday, Sisters and supporters went to Capital Hill to lift up the voice of LOVE in the face of the hideous budget bill. Let's join them in calling our Senators to act for the people, not the billionaires.

On June 5th, the great Walter Brueggemann moved beyond. His passion for justice and scholarly creativity is here with us in his words.

These times call for LAMENT. Let's honor Brueggemann by finding inspiration in his words and carrying his indomitable energy into our activism.

"Where LAMENT is absent... justice questions disappear into civility and docility. The order of the day comes to seem absolute, beyond question, and we are left with only grim obedience and eventually despair."

Walter Brueggemann, "The Costly Loss of Lament"

Judd "the Dragon Slayer" Legum is the truthteller I rely on for quality analysis of the facts behind the headlines. Today: "A new war based on manipulated intelligence" lays out the timeline clearly and shows the administration's stunning disregard for its own intelligence community analysis.

You can read more of Pope Leo's thoughts about peace, and also education in nonviolence, in his address to Italian bishops here:

Yes, Pope Leo, let's "transform fear of the other into an opportunity for encounter."

I love that Leo's vision for The Church is to "become a “house of peace”, where one learns how to defuse hostility through dialogue, where justice is practiced and forgiveness is cherished." Amen and amen!

Let's roll up our sleeves, church! We've got some work to do.....
