I grew up in a very rural, very red part of the country and they will always find excuses for their economic hardships rather than admit it is because of their own voting choices. "We were wrong" isn't in their vocabulary. This is directly tied to how they were raised, religiously.

There is no magical option where we get FDR-like progress without FDR-like majorities. The sooner the far learns and accepts this, the better off we will all be.

The idea that it is better to start wars, kill thousands of people, and disrupt entire countries and regions rather than work towards renewable energy sources takes a really damaged moral compass.
