Honored to receive a poster award for my research on 17α-estradiol at #AGE2025, Anchorage, Alaska!
Beyond the award, I received valuable feedback and had the chance to discuss my findings with field experts—insights that will be key in completing my ongoing projects.

Stout Lab members at #AGE2025 in Anchorage, Alaska! It was an incredibly productive meeting with great science and inspiring discussions. Excited to implement new ideas in my research and grateful for the new collaborations formed during the conference.🧪

The true challenge at scientific conferences isn’t public speaking, making figures, or even surviving on coffee and cookies until lunch. I believe it’s about conveying your passion so others truly understand how meaningful your research is—both generally and personally for those doing it.

Have you ever thought about dropping science and running away with the circus?

Hear the story of one incredible scientist—Elizabeth Finn, Ph.D. from @omrf.bsky.social —who did exactly that.

Check out one of our videos with her, and visit our

Leave Science, Join a Circus

When burnout pushed her to the edge, Dr. Finn did something unexpected—she joined the circus! 🎪

This wild detour not only refreshed her perspective but also deepened her passion for mentoring and collaboration in the lab.

🧪 This week, I faced rejection not once, not twice, but three times:

📝 2 papers rejected
💼 1 research internship application declined

Time to embrace the 3 R's: Relax, Revise, Reapply. 💪

This is part of my rejection tracker—I'll summarize at the end of the year how many times it happened.

📊 Did you know about the Kardashian Index?

The Kardashian Index, or K-Index, is a fun way to look at the relationship between a scientist’s social media popularity and their research impact. 🧑‍🔬📱

A rigorous scientific approach to a seemingly silly question: an observational study involving human volunteers—and reindeer, likely non-volunteers. @magdalenamakuch.bsky.social with another episode.
🎄✨Ho Ho Ho! The next episode of Talk Science To Me Christmas Edition is here!✨🎄

🎶“Rudolph, the red-nosed reindeer, had a very shiny nose” - but wait… how is that even possible? Don’t worry, scientists have already found the answer! 🦌🔴

Today, I had the opportunity to attend a seminar by @khmiga.bsky.social The science and technology covered were incredibly fascinating, but what resonated with me the most was her emphasis on increasing diversity and in genome studies. It’s clear that one size -one reference genome, does not fit all

"We Live in Time" – a great, touching, tear-jerking movie.

At the same time, it represents well the reality of cancer patients dealing with a devastating diagnosis and limited time to make the best of it.

One of the best movies I’ve seen this year.
