I grew up #Christian and wrestle with my #faith daily, but nothing aggravates me more than #ChristianNationalists twisting their “faith” to support discrimination, take away human rights, and fuel #fascism.

Here’s a #poem I wrote after a particularly heated argument I had with a family member. 💔

He broke bread with the poor. You break budgets with their names on them. He healed for free. You charge co-pays and close clinics and critical access hospitals in the name of Fiscal Responsibility XLVII. He said, “Let the little children come to me.” You said, “Let the children wait in cages until the paperwork is sorted.” He wept. You mocked. He prayed alone in a garden. You posed for photo-ops with borrowed Bibles- still sealed by spine, still clean from disuse. (As if you would ever read one anyways.) He fed thousands with loaves and fishes. You cut SNAP and take from the mouths of babes to support shockingly superfluous subsidies for weapons (fund Ukraine, free Palestine) and pipelines (Land Back). He stopped the stoning. You write new laws with sharper rocks. He called the peacemakers blessed. Part 1 of the poem “State of the Union (In Ashes and Asphalt)”. The text is Glacial Indifference in black over a cream background. Part 1 of “State of the Union (In Ash and Asphalt)” reads as follows: State of the Union (In Ash and Asphalt) We are living in the pause between sirens- in the ghost-lane of a country built on promises written with disappearing ink. Every flagpole hums a dirge when the wind runs too fast, and still we rise to pledge like memory isn't a burden. Here, the rich build rockets while children eat lead paint chips, and we clap for billionaires as if their boots were holy relics. Schools are locked down with metal detectors and fear, while textbooks redact rebellion and call it neutrality. Hospitals hum like slot machines. Insulin costs more than a casket. We don't cure- we invoice. A broken bone is a financial risk. A birth is a bill before it's a celebration. Every sidewalk is a scroll of grief we don't read- just step over the tent cities, step past the lost teeth and shivering dogs. A woman gives birth under an overpass. Been trying to get more out and active lately for my overall well-being. In that vein, I participated in my town’s Bay to Bay (bike/run race).

Hurricane level winds, complete downpour, everyone was cold and soaked to the bone by the end but it felt good! Grateful for #community.

It’s almost 1- we had more cookies than we thought, the reception has been 100% positive, we’ve had 3 great conversations with people wanting to ask ?s, and we got a feature in our local paper. (I was interviewed!)
