In fairness in that example I don't think kerkez was ever free of his man and he hadn't looked up to see what who was open to him anyway.

Surely kerkez has some modicum of passing ability that he could play more passes to gakpo?! I cant understand why this isn't happening, it would get him joining further up the field in support/overlapping then which is what he was doing with semenyo last year by all accounts

Only time we carried from the back four with any impact was when Gravenberch went to centre half.

Kerkez looks like he can't open up his body to receive the ball on the half turn if he is under any pressure so nothing is going up the pitch from his side. He ends up playing a lot of passes back to Van Djik.

It looks like wirtz and salah can't be in the same side if wirtz is going to be a third midfielder. Neither are exactly pressing monsters. Not sure we have enough physicality behind wirtz in midfield to cover his defensive weaknesses. Gravenberch maybe but jones and macallister less so.

Not picking on him but kerkez really needs to open up his body to allow the possibility of passing the ball forward when he gets the ball from van djik. Cpuld learn a thing from robertson on that.He is taking the easy pass back to alisson or van djik nearly everytime.
