I'd deeply appreciate any help you can offer.

If you'd like to help animals, but don't want to give money to some internet rando (fair), please donate time or money to:

This is not something that will ruin me. I believe that, even with my low income, I can pay this off over the next several months by putting most of my paychecks on the cards.

But less time paying it off means less interest, and less stress.

On top of the emotional distress, I've also accumulated over $5k of credit card debt, mostly in support of this small girl. In the past, a big cat expense could be paid off over a few months. But, as the expenses got closer together, I fell behind.

The respiratory disease had taken over, and her abdomen was full of fluid (which was pushing on her lungs, further impacting breathing). The speed of onset and the symptoms made the emergency vet think cancer. After talking out the options, we made the horrible choice to say goodbye.

The asthma/respiratory disease progressed, and we transitioned to inhalers for the steroids and added a rescue inhaler. Once those therapies stopped being effective, a nighttime trip to the emergency vet showed a rapid health decline.

Despite the decreasing weight and increased medication, Abigail was largely in good spirits. We spent loads of time cuddling and cooing and making sure she felt as loved and warm as was possible.

The steroids were also meant to treat asthma, which manifested as coughing.

The vet visits increased from once or twice a year to almost quarterly. Medication and travel costs skyrocketed.

The vet diagnosed IBD along with mild upper respiratory disease and pancreatitis. After x-rays and multiple ultrasounds, we also noticed a small amount of fluid in her abdomen.

She tried prescription foods for the IBD, and was given steroids for the rest.

It seemed to start with the needed removal of a couple teeth. As a senior cat, she also began to deal with tooth resorption, which sometimes made eating difficult. It's then that we noticed weight loss.

The slightly longer version is that Abigail was my cat. Not just a cat, but a true best friend, and a true member of my family. She lived with us for 8.5 years, after we adopted her as a stray. She lived a very healthy and happy life until the last 2ish years.

We said goodbye to our sweet girl, Abigail, last night. I don't really have words at this point, but we adopted her as a stray from Lollypop Farms years ago. If you are able to, please consider donating to them.
