We’ve had rain for 2 days in a row. Missing clear skies and getting around on the 🏍️.

John Benchmark, named after John Bull. I’m guessing there were enough British expats out here in this area in the 1960s to influence the naming process.

Back on the grind today but grateful for family and for this past weekend. It was idyllic and full of love.

I got mail.

Last week I attended a screening of 1925's The Phantom Of The Opera w/a live orchestra performing Roy Budd's score. At the time I didn't know the background story to the score (look it up) but was so moved by it I had to get a copy of film/score.

A few random things:

- Skyfall is not only a great Bond film. It's great cinema as well.

- Roughly 80% of the music I've purchased in 2025 has been by female artists or groups led by a female vocalist.

- This month marks 4 years since I last imbued an alcoholic beverage.

- I miss this view.

Continuing on yesterday's Vince Guaraldi theme and in honor of yesterday's US elections, here are 2 variants of CBS 1972 Peanuts special You're Not Elected, Charlie Brown. This long out print soundtrack was re-released last year to coincide with last years presidential election.

I may or may not have mentioned this in the past. My only music vice is collecting Vince Guaraldi Peanuts TV broadcast soundtracks and Wes Anderson film Soundtracks. In honor of Halloween having just passed, here are variants from the 1966 CBS TV broadcast of It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown.

Attended an ABBA/Queen candlelight concert this past weekend. It was held at a church which as a venue is always a bit problematic for me because of the religious aspect of it. However, the acoustics were undeniably superb as were the musicians performance.

Had the pleasure of visiting The United Theater on Broadway in Downtown LA for a screening of The Phantom Of The Opera starring Lon Cheney that included a live orchestral performance. It was spellbinding viewing this film in this Spanish Gothic style venue built in 1927. Happy Halloween everyone.

Once again it’s that time of the year when Southern California goes through second Summer.

Have a good weekend everyone.

Wasn’t expecting any apples given the type of weather we’ve had this year, but apple pie for Thanksgiving is looking like a real possibility and that’s something to start being grateful for. Thank you, Nature.

Inyo National Forest. En route to Mt Williamson (14,375ft). When I took this picture I’d already crossed multiple streams, bushwhacked through countless vegetation and dealt with plenty of challenging route finding and the toughest part had yet to come. But all in all, epic times were had.

Often torn between drowning in instruments in the studio and overdosing on vitamin D. The latter won yesterday.

Who’s got 2 thumbs and managed to stay accident free on the dirt roads today?

👍🏻🙂👍🏻

Felt so good to be out on the bike today (after 2 months) while blasting Alison Goldfrapp at full volume.

Realized today it's been a little over 2 years since I joined this platform/left Twitter for good. Time flies. And this isn't a complain but this place still feels alien and very post-Twitter-exodus scattered to me. Like maybe there are lot of holdovers on Twitter still. I wonder how they're doing.

It’s been a year since the arson fire in the foothills of the San Bernardino mountains raced up to higher elevations and claimed not only a disheartening amount of vegetation but also a beloved fire lookout station at the summit of Keller Peak (7,882ft). Only a section of the metal base remains.

Music composition/album creation has never been (and I don't think it will ever be) an easy task for me, but it sure is a worthy creative journey to embark on every single time.

Have a good week ahead, everyone.

The ability to take pictures at night with the new iPhones is pretty incredible. Yes, there was a full moon out that night, but it was also the middle of the night for Pete’s sake.

Taken while field recording.
