The real emergency is the #forestemergency and the urgent need to protect #oldgrowth forests. No deforestation for wind turbines. #StopFakeRenewables #StopBurningTrees #SaveStanleyPark #urbanforests

Yes, they are logging hemlocks without doing proper Wildlife/Dangerous Tree assessments on them. They are also cutting down some cedars. It is not necessary as most are sound and not rotten. This logging is contributing to blowdowns and is causing the forest to dry out.

The big risk is from the Park Board's current logging operation which is opening up the forest canopy exposing the understory to sun and wind. And older trees hold water and many are being removed unnecessarily.

Who will commit to keeping Stanley Park green and free from logging? Currently unnecessary logging of hemlocks is happening at a rapid pace, damaging the forest floor and increasing the risk of blow downs.

Beautiful!

Stanley Park is being logged by the Park Board and inconceivably with the support of Stanley Park Ecology Society. These defoliated hemlocks are not a falling risk unless they have rot and most are healthy. And the logging is causing blow down of healthy trees. It must stop.

Dead trees matter. @tomdigby1.bsky.social @laura-christensen.bsky.social

Stanley Park Ecology Society signs on the importance of wildlife trees. Up to half of BC's birds and mammals depend on them for survival yet you are cutting them down. And many of these hemlocks could regenerate.

Is this any way to treat Stanley Park, Vancouver's jewel?

Why are the City of Vancouver and the Park Board destroying the forest floor with heavy machinery?

Stop logging Stanley Park!

The City of North Vancouver understands that defoliated hemlocks can sometimes regenerate so why is the Vancouver Park Board so eager to cut hemlocks down in Stanley Park? 🤔

CO2 is in extremely small proportions compared to other gases and trees and forests are what absorb CO2. What matters even more is how the loss of forests changes the microclimate to hot and dry conditions and stops the absorption of heavy rain.

It would help if they stopped cutting koalas' forests down for cattle grazing, timber and wind turbines.

Vancouver's Stanley Park is being logged of thousands of its hemlocks citing hemlock looper moth damage despite dead or dying trees not being a falling risk unless they contain rot.

Still so much deforestation is going on in Queensland for beef. Is there a way to source grass fed beef not raised on deforested land?

Every day, forests and bushland like this are destroyed across Australia for beef pastures.

What's going on with urban forests where you live? 🌳🌲🍃

City councils are under pressure to allow developers to cut down trees. What are some grass roots initiatives to keep cities cool and green?
