Affable guy living an uncomplicated life in the great redwoods of coastal Northern California.

Despite her sisters’ peak in August, this little foxglove finally gathered enough sunlight and personal confidence to make her grande entrance. Welcome! Better late than never!

The foxgloves are more robust this summer than usual here in the forest. The biggest of them typically hit 4 feet tall and grow a skirt of 4 blooms about halfway up the stem. But I’ve never seen anything quite so grand as these two: they’re more like a pair of beautiful belles in hoop skirts!

I thought these little beauties were Lilies of the Valley, but this weekend I learned that they’re actually Solomon’s Seal. By any name they’re beautiful, fragrant, delicate and spreading throughout this little garden.

Since the election I’ve binged on Arcane, Severance, Silo and currently The Last of Us. The next two years don’t seem quite so scary by comparison.

The giant horse mushrooms got a late start this year and weren’t so giant. This little guy only grew to a mere 5 inches across. Yes, they’re edible, but no I don’t. I’d rather they spread their spores and return next year.
