Hyper-fixation on illegal immigration is a Trump-era phenomenon. When Obama was president and consistently making pro-immigration arguments publicly, views on the subject were more neutral than they are today, when no one is making those arguments and GOP rhetoric is filling the void

Biden deported a shitload of people but the larger point is this: People with immigration as their top concern do not care how many Biden deported. They don’t vote for Dems, and they never will, regardless of how anti-immigration dems posture as. That is not how Dems win votes.
