A very messy, high-impact system is expected tomorrow. Yellow-dashed areas may overachieve, while white-dashed areas will see mixing, so true accumulations there may be much lower.

Snowfall rates could reach 5–8 cm/hr, locally higher.

The system on the 29th continues to trend south. There’s no doubt about its strength, but the question is whether it will shift even further south, becoming a very strong snowstorm, or stay in place, bringing rain and a wide swath of ice.

Looking at another storm signal around the 8th as we see a +PNA, -NAO and -AO with signs of weaking 50hpa zonal mean winds. All this is associated with a strong storm and you can also see the zonal mean winds dip with the 29th system.

Perfect storm signal around the 3rd, with the ideal -PNA SER pattern and blocking Quebec. Will continue to monitor this.
