Lover of learning and rambling
I write about things I’ve learnt here: https://forcrows.substack.com/
I wish there was more of an emphasis on choosing people who are good at teaching to teach in university, but I also wish there was more opportunity for academics to talk about the things that really inspire them - their own research and research interests. 6/6

The third lecturer is my favourite. Her unwavering kindness, enthusiasm and encouragement makes not just her approachable but also some of the most complex topics.

As I go on to pick my specialisms for next year one of the primary deciding factors has been who is lecturing. 5/6

patiently explaining topics beyond what he was actually there to lecture about (he was there to talk about the respiratory system but instead spent most of the time talking about research governance and ethics). 4/6

The second lecturer was just interesting. He practiced clinical research and so imbued his lecture with stories of his research and experiences. He was also extremely generous with his time. My friend and I had a few questions for him after the lecture and he sat with us for over an hour, 3/6

One of our anatomy lecturers is like a stand-up comedian. Although sometimes he does tend to go on slightly too long tangents (and there is a running joke about how amazing his kids must be), the ease he presents a topic with brings a lightness to what can otherwise be quite overwhelming. 2/6

We had one at my school as well in the early 2010s. This wasn’t some like small village as well it was right in the middle of a city

I think people sometimes forget there are way more ways to use an LLM than ‘teach me about this topic and I won’t look at anything else so I don’t know if you’re wrong’.

I’ve found LLMs like perplexity really useful to start off a search for information. It’s like a more natural search engine but I always go to the sources. ChatGPT can be really helpful in finding context specific synonyms, making things more concise, helping breakdown tasks etc.

I’d love patches for each crash course series. The dopamine hit would be amazing and I could put them all on a sweatshirt and it would take me back to my brownie days. 😭

Omg yes!

Bird and Blend’s Morning Kick (lemon and ginger yerba mate) combined with orange and mango squash is a favourite of mine!
