I know a lot of well-meaning people who may have had COVID previously and got Paxlovid at no out-of-pocket cost or a low-ish out-of-pocket cost are telling people (often strangers) who've been recently infected to get Paxlovid. Please know, Paxlovid is not at all accessible for most people today.

CDC deferred questions to Maryland on a call with state animal health officials, Thompson said. "We found out via other routes and then had to go to CDC to tell us what was going on,” she said. This is exactly the situation with hospital systems, schools, and every other workplace in the US with respect to COVID.

It's not that contracting COVID and other viruses over and over isn't a big deal;

So much overlap in this article about respirators/masks for wildfire firefighters as there has been with respirators/masks and COVID.

Of course, other countries are working to protect their people, while the US practically fights against it.
Countries with major wildfire seasons, including Canada, Australia and Greece, have begun to hand out half-face respirator masks with replaceable filters, like those worn by painters and demolition teams. In laboratory tests, they block about 99 percent of the toxic particles in smoke. Disposable N95 masks are nearly as effective. But year after year, the Forest Service sends crews into smoke with nothing to prevent them from inhaling its poisons. The agency has fought against equipping firefighters with masks. It issues safety handbooks that make no mention of the long-term hazards of smoke exposure. And its workers are not allowed to wear masks on the front line, even if they want to.

You seem to be exactly the type of person Steven Thrasher wrote about in early 2022.
As soon as Biden assumed office, many establishment liberals and much of the mainstream media-who are unable to think outside of a "Democrats good, Republicans bad" binary-stopped caring about the pandemic. Also, on behalf of their corporate owners, many newsrooms actively pushed for a "return to normal." And, as I argue in my forthcoming book, regardless of which party is running the U.S. government, there are multiple ways America perpetually creates what I call a "viral underclass." But for many journalists, it was easier to view Trump as an abnormal monster who made the pandemic so bad, rather than to wrestle with how it is our American way of life that initially made the pandemic more deadly in the U.S. than in any other country on earth, and which continues to make us have the most deaths of any nation.

It was absolutely not distinctly a GOP issue. The study this article is on is talking about the 2022 CDC guidance - Biden's CDC - that lead to nearly 22,000 deaths.

So much of this article is true with education (and so many other areas) too, because every school (elementary through college) in Gaza has been decimated. It's yet another reason why the recent Beaverton school board investigation into Dr. Tammy Carpenter is infuriating.

I don't know when this happened, but Rite Aid no longer has Covid vaccines on their list of available immunizations. I just got my Covid booster at Rite Aid last month. I know a number of their locations are closing, but the two closest to me are not, so I have to think this is related to the admin.

The article says they've disabled the voice announcement feature until repairs can be made, so it did impact people who rely on this for safety.
