Automatically updating content can be extremely distracting, especially for users with vestibular disorders or attention difficulties. This could force users to scroll through page content to not see the animation, or to just look away. Allow animations to be paused or stopped.

This seems every bit as relevant today as when it was written. I use a walking stick due to a physical disability, and it's disappointing how rarely that can be represented in video game characters.
About 4 years ago I wrote my first piece on @caniplaythat.com for Craniofacial Acceptance Month.

I usually post it again each year as the message is still relevant. People with a facial difference are more than the harmful trope of a scary villain or sad backstory.

Gaming with a Facial Difference
Video games are a great escape from real life, but having a facial difference is something you don’t escape while gaming.

This article by @samwho.dev on reservoir sampling is excellent. I really want to build something with it. I feel like I’ve learnt a new skill but I don’t have a use for it right now.

Node.js v20.19.0 is out 🤩

This is a special minor release ✨
Although v20 is in maintenance mode, meaning only patch releases are expected, an exception was made to backport require(esm) due to its importance and impact on the ecosystem.

CALLS ARE WORKING - it has bought us precious time, but we NEED to keep the pressure up.

Tomorrow is the cloture vote.

KEEP CALLING: (202) 224-3121 ☎️☎️☎️

Tell your Dem Senator to vote NO on Cloture and NO on the Republican spending bill.

Do NOT assume your Senator will be good on this. Trust me.
🚨 Everyone needs to call their Dem Senator right now. They are starting to cave.

Tell them:
1. Vote NO on Cloture
AND
2. Vote NO on the Republican spending bill.

Don’t let them pivot to reconciliation. GOP doesn’t need Dem votes on that and they know it.

TODAY is the showdown.

Some of you know that I lead many Core infrastructure teams at Google, and one of those teams is Multiplatform development.

As such, I've been extremely interested in WASM lately- you've probably heard about WASM's benefits for performance, but did you also know WASM is great at *portability*?

Just learned about "Subpath imports". This looks like an awesome feature. It gives us a standard way to alias some module or dependency that should work for node.js and bundlers like webpack. The alias must start with "#" so should be easy to identify. nodejs.org/docs/latest-...

My React Alicante talk about finding and fixing race conditions is now available to watch online! I love focusing on getting these sorts of UI interactions just right, and it feels horrible to use apps that mess this up.
