Too many organizations are built around outsiders deciding what a community needs, instead of empowering the people who already live and work there. And while people from outside a community can play a role in its restoration, that role should never come at the expense of local voices and leadership

The best nonprofits aren’t built for communities. They’re built with them. Community-anchored leaders often bring solutions the outside world can’t see.
