“Toughen up. You’re too sensitive.”

We often turn these words on ourselves when we feel excluded or dismissed—fueling guilt and self-doubt.

Instead, flip the script: small shifts in self-talk build resilience and open doors to places (and people) that truly welcome us.

What do you give yourself?

Yesterday, we led a session on dog body language—specifically calming signals dogs use to express stress or ask for space. I call it Emotional Intelligence for Dogs. 🐾

It’s a reminder: we all send signals. Pay attention to the quiet ones. Presence matters.

He's made his point. No words needed! A reminder of how powerful body language can be (for dogs and humans).

And just a note, I did not arrange the toys for him. He does it himself.

Happy Saturday!

Don’t let a toxic workplace control you.

Reclaim your power—intentionally.

Name the BAD and the GOOD. Write them down and use them to grow stronger—like Boot Camp.

Set RULES OF ENGAGEMENT to survive and DEAL BREAKERS to know when to walk away.

Embrace this process to take back control.

When the messages you're receiving don’t align with what you know to be true—and they start making you doubt yourself—pause.

First, NAME IT. Acknowledge the reality of the situation in a structured way. Clarity starts with recognition.

Being kind is good for business. Yet too often, people bulldoze through change without thought. Change is inevitable, but how we do it matters. Thoughtful, intentional change leads to better results. Kindness isn’t weakness—it defines great leaders.

Not all feedback is helpful, kind, or true—especially in toxic cultures. Treat it as a data point, not a gift. Protect your confidence, filter what you absorb, and prioritize your well-being.

Trying to fit into an unwelcoming workplace is draining. I didn’t realize the toll it was taking until I stepped away. Like a smoky room clearing, I finally saw it.

Naming it - acknowledging what was happening - was the first step to making a move to a better place.
