I miss Feral Interactive, they still port games but pretty much to ios, android and consoles now but they were THE Linux game porting team.

And indie devs like Linux users since they tend to give more info about an issue than just "It doesnt work" so bug fixes are a little less annoying to deal with

Yeah, indie devs dont really care about the market share of an OS as much as AAA devs do but I wish docs on porting your games to Linux was better, I've seen games that dont target the Steam Linux Runtime when they should

I want to include this kinda stuff in the O3DE docs since Valve gives you container images for these runtimes so a podman script could be made to build your game for the given runtime.

There's weird things in the linux gaming space for making a native build like runtimes (Steam Linux Runtime scout/soldier/sniper) that you need to build your game under for it to work on every distro and most devs prob wouldn't know how to start with that.

I'd rather have a dev that knows nothing about Linux development to make their windows build run well in proton than do a poorly ported native Linux version. If the dev wants to learn or already understands Linux dev and wants to produce a native build then they should.
