Even before the Sem Steijn links, I found a certain interesting player who ranks 3rd in non-penalty xG and 2nd in open play touches in the penalty area this season (per 90 minutes) among all midfielders I've collected (>2000 players)

That player? Ondřej Lingr

Seen a lot of 'Sem Steijn to Feyenoord' discourse these last few days, which makes sense given he played and scored against us

He'll probably be too expensive for my liking, but I do agree with the overall consensus that we lack that kind of player a bit

First proper minutes for Targhalline yesterday, and I thought he immediately showed what he's capable of. Orchestrating, always showing for the ball, and trying to accelerate play where possible. Was also happily surprised by his duelling yesterday

Decent start!
Two weeks ago, Feyenoord signed Moroccan midfielder Oussama Targhalline from Le Havre AC, and we were already able to see glimpses of his qualities against NAC yesterday. But what kind of player is Targhalline, and most importantly, what does he add to Feyenoord?

Apologies for the delay, but here is the detailed thread on Oussama Targhalline, finally

I had some trouble with implementing the clips on Bluesky, which doesn't work perfectly yet. Seems like it's not working for some of those clips now, for me at least

In true Footy_metrics fashion, all did not really go well, so I won't be able to post the thread today before the game as was planned. Which is a shame, as Targhalline will probably get his debut tonight

I'll try and post it tomorrow, if I can find the time
Been watching a few games of Targhalline, and I have to say I'm quite impressed. A very interesting playmaker who, as I mentioned earlier, can ease the burden on Hwang, who's again struggling with fitness

If all goes well, I'm going to be posting a thread on him next weekend

Bij Feyenoord traint Oussama Targhalline mee. De middenvelder, die werd overgenomen van de Franse Ligue 1-club Le Havre AC, heeft zijn werkvergunning rond en kan daardoor aansluiten bij de groep.

Look, I think this is the most logical option for now, but seeing as he can only coach for 4 weeks, this is going to cause problems again down the line

We need to have a manager for only this season imo, but who's going to join as a second interim, for only ~4 months?

Interesting line-up. I think, for now, this is potentially our best midfield. But normally, our '10' is more right-sided focused, and Timber is always best in the left half-space. But when Timber as the '10' moves to the left, AHM is left completely on his own...

We've seen this many times before. Initial plan is decent and sometimes even good, but when the opponent decides to change it up to react to our initial plan, we don't have a reaction at all

And even when it did go 'alright' at the start, we created next to nothing

As you've probably figured out, I've still got some trouble with posting on two platforms simultaneously, especially with busy days like yesterday

I'm going to look into how I can make this more efficient. If anyone has any tips, I'd happily take those

Oussama Targhalline to join Feyenoord! 🇲🇦

A bit out of nowhere, this one. I've looked into him a bit in the summer, and he's definitely an interesting player. He could definitely ease the burden on Hwang a bit when it comes to orchestrating build-up

Jakub Moder debut! 🇵🇱

I've been watching quite a lot of games of him recently as I was planning to do a thread on him, but I didn't get to fully assess him well, because I felt he suffered quite a bit from rustiness. Let's see what he can offer us today

Santiago Giménez off to AC Milan 🇲🇽🔴⚫️

A really intriguing player to watch. A pure goalscorer, generating chances for himself (and others) at every level he's played at so far. Very interested to see how he'll do at AC Milan. I think this is a good next step for him tbh

With most regular starters (bar Bijlow unfortunately) returning from injury, I'm intrigued to see how Priske will set up when everyone is available

Probably won't see the strongest 11 yet on Sunday because of match fitness issues, but we hopefully will in a few weeks' time

Feyenoord also linked to Jhon Arias 🇨🇴

He stood out in the numbers a bit in the 2023 season. At that time, I didn't think we'd ever splash a lot of cash on a then 26 y/o winger who hadn't played in Europe yet. That thinking hasn't changed tbh, and his 2024 numbers aren't as good

Feyenoord are discussing a deal for Ringo Meerveld!

His player profile doesn't tell a lot tbh (will show them below). It is quite obvious his main quality is dribbling. He's showing top numbers for dribbling, even when playing for Willem II, with all respect
January 30, 2025 at 6:23 PM

xG, xGA, and xGD (xG - xGA) trend of Feyenoord

This shows Priske wasn't wrong when he said during the winter break the numbers were improving . The xG numbers were improving while the results actually got worse. xGA trend was already a bit worrying back then though

Started off all right, but really fell off the further the first half developed. I'd say we're quite lucky to be ahead at half time

We're really lacking composure and authority on the pitch. On the ball, someone who puts his foot on the ball and slows things down, and...

With the unfortunate injury to Lennard Hartjes, Excelsior might be in need of another midfielder. Hartjes and Zechiël are somewhat similar profiles, too. He'll keep playing in Rotterdam, for a dominant team

Could be a sensible short-term loan destination imo

Jakub Moder to join Feyenoord!

I haven't seen a lot of him, and his numbers in the Premier League don't really tell a whole lot (also because of small sample size). Nevertheless, his numbers from his time playing in Poland are pretty ridiculous
January 17, 2025 at 12:22 PM
Van Vianen was generally good out of possession this game. On the ball it wasn't great, but still had some decent moments. Could've had two assists with some/a lot of luck

Hatenboer though. First time really looking at him, and he definitely looks quality on the ball
Excelsior-FC Dordrecht is a fun match to watch because of the derby in 'our' region, and because of all our loanees playing for FC Dordrecht.

But for me, Daniël van Vianen is also one to watch. One who has an interesting profile, especially considering his expiring contract

I hope Zechiël will start against FC Utrecht. He might be a bit more vulnerable out of possession compared to Milambo, but I think he comes closest to replicating what Hwang does as the pivot in build-up; being able to receive with his back to goal and under pressure
January 10, 2025 at 3:12 PM
Feyenoord are interested in Víctor Gómez!

Haven't watched him, but his passing and overall offensive numbers from last season look great, and no massive red flags at first glance. Aerial ability maybe, but that's to be expected considering his size tbh
