Abebech was told her foot might need amputation. She refused to accept that.

After a tough year facing stigma and homelessness she finally got treatment.

The swelling is gone, she can wear shoes, and she’s looking for work.

It costs £52 per person to treat podo patients and set them up to continue independent selfcare. By contrast, the economic burden per patient is £100 per year. The case for treatment is clear to see.

Yitayih lived with podo and stigma since 1974. He was called a "leper" due to myths. But hope arrived! He found a treatment program, learnt foot hygiene & wore shoes. His swelling improved, confidence soared and now he's an advocate of health education!
