I'm finally updating the Canonn signals page, adding stuff to it you wont see anywhere else. In he process learning lots of fun facts.

Jackson's Lighthouse should be a black hole
The Black Hole HIP 1227 B has an angular velocity close to the speed of light!

Vavatch Orbital in Synuefai ZL-O b51-0 looks like it could be in danger of getting hit by the approaching planet. Closest approach is at 6am tomorrow. So who knows what could happen. No planetary collisions due this time, but next summer there will be one. #EliteDangerous

I haven't decided on a Christmas song for this year. Last year @ktkhaos.bsky.social and I did a duet. What shouId do this year? Whatever it is a need to pull my finger out.

Suggestions?

Next year's collsion at Swoiwns TR-T b8-1 is going to be really interesting the small landable moons orbit their parent bodies every 4.8 hours. There should be at least 3 bodies touching each other. #EliteDangerous

The planet in the middle of the picture will make its closest approach on the the 11th November. I hope it misses my orbital!

I'm preparing for next Halloween. I have an Orbis thanks to @operationida.bsky.social and i now have a surface port selling CMM so It's self sufficient for building facilities. Sadly no surface ports possible. #EliteDangerous

Getting my collison detection code to produce documentation. Starting to look quite nice.

I'm considering getting a founders pack for this game. Its single player and they are taking inspiration for BG3 and Mass Effect. I'd love a BG3 in space and I love The Expanse. Some of the interiors have a bit of an #EliteDangeros feel to them.

Keeping players happy must be like making balloon animals. You squeeze one end and the other pops out.

You make something.. they complain. So you fix the thing they are complaining about and then they complain about the fix. And so on ad infinitum.

I for one like the latest changes.

This was the first prediction I ever made, before we had the data in the journals to do the calculations so I had to measure angles on the orrery to work it out. Waiting for them to hit was nerve wracking and it was only a glancing contact.

Three bodies will collide at Eol Prou QS-N b22-1 bodies 5 a, 5 b and 5 a a . I'll need to run some simulations to get a proper timeline but this will be interesting for sure. 5 a and 5 b will be stuck together for 2 days and the moon will hit at least once but probaly several times. #EliteDangerous

This is the culmination over over 3 year's work. The first planetary collision to wipe out a surface settlement. Datta Biological Forum on Reienadi 8 c. Very challenging to get good video because of the lighting glitches but lady luck smailed on me for the final moment! #EliteDangerous

Looks like tidal forces are causing a little volcanism ahead of the collision.

This is a plot of the distances between the planets Rhubarb and Custard over time on a logarithmic scale. The type of curve is an epicycloidal cusp. It gives me an idea for a way of speeding up the process of predicting collisons between bodies.

Looks like there will be fireworks on the 11th November. The orbitals should be close enough to crash into a passing body.

Got around to fixing my collsion calculation code. The key was reversing a couple of angles.

periapsis_deg = 0 - ed_body["argOfPeriapsis"] # degrees
node_deg = 0 - ed_body["ascendingNode"] # degrees

Now I can work out if any of the orbitals are going to be at risk in November
