Specializing in translating SNAP policy into layman's terms. I've been a SNAP caseworker for almost a decade. Advocate for recipients. Opinionated about SNAP Policy. The views expressed on my page are not necessarily that of my employer.

So I just heard the rapture happening in three days. I know I’m a little late, but are we having a party or anything? I won’t be there because I’m an introvert, but I want y’all to have a good time.

The fraud rate in the SNAP program is 1.9%. They don’t care about fraud, they just want it to look like they’re cutting people off. If they cared about fraud they would require employers to make wages available online to us for free

When buying water to store for "just in case" it is cheaper to buy it by the gallon than 16oz bottles. Gallons for the house, bottles for travel. Any other tips for economical prepping?

It might be a good idea to have about a month or two worth of food, water, and supplies at hand... just in case.

This is where we are.

A family of 2, with one person earning twice the minimum wage, paying $1200 rent, would qualify for $191 in SNAP and still wouldn’t have enough to get by.

I keep forgetting about this platform. I’m sorry.

I completely forgot about this app for a hot second. So anyway, Trump wants to cut $230 billion from the budget that includes SNAP. This will have a devastating impact on families, grocers, farmers, states, and local economies. Oh, and helping poor people with their power bills is now "woke".

Your tax refund is not counted as income towards your food stamp case. We do not count one-time, lump sum payments as income, and your gross income has already been counted.

Every day, I find myself more concerned, not just about what he’s doing, but at how oblivious or excited so many seem to be about it.

Three updates:
1. The Justice Department has deleted a database tracking federal police misconduct. The database was first proposed in 2020 following the police killing of George Floyd.

They do know that waste doesn’t always mean fraud, right? Fraud isn’t waste- it’s intentional and criminal.

Every $1 we spend on the SNAP program generates $2 in our economy.

Why are so many of our citizens struggling with critical thinking? I’m serious. This is a problem.

How are we going to rebuild all this?

Just the other day I asked where the “The Emperor has no clothes on!” kid is, and then along comes little X.

Where is that little kid that announces "The Emperor has no clothes on!" Maybe someone will listen to them.

My 1st post- IMO, the most egregious of SNAP policies is that college students attending 1/2 time or more are NOT eligible to receive food stamps. There are exemptions, but 40yo single mother, works 15hpw, 14yo child- cannot receive for herself, only for her child.
