I can’t speak to Washington winters as I haven’t experienced them. I find the seasonal malaise feels different from my usual anxiety and catastrophizing: there’s a peculiar restlessness where nothing feels right and more self destructive intrusive thoughts.

I really like the ink-drawn gnome because of the motion and details like cheeks and the patch on his overalls. The other gnome kind of reminds me of a guy I used to work with: loud and gruff without meaning to be.

I read there was a study that backs this up and even quantifies the perception of time’s passage to the point that the average person has effectively lived half their lives by the end of their 20s.

Lower vitamin D doesn’t help with that feeling and if you have trauma around the encroaching season like me, winter is something to be endured until somewhere around mid-January.

As a large-ish man who gets claustrophobic in the backseat of a car, I have only once been in a tourist-friendly cave and still felt a little queasy.
