Plants update! They have not been recovering super well since they spent a week in my bathroom during the cyclone. But I've got some actual fruits of my labour now! I'm moving house shortly so there will be some restructuring and repotting soon to try and get them all healed! 🍅

Life has been tough recently, but look! Tomatoes! It's been a rainy end to summer so it's an endless overwatering battle. And I'm eagerly awaiting more than one of my marigolds to bloom.

Thought I'd like to make a thread for my recent attempt at a balcony garden! This is about 3 weeks in.

What a difference soil makes! These two pots have the same plants, Tomato and Greek Basil, but the left uses a basic "vegetable and herb" potting mix, and the right used a fancy compost blend.

They have long, thin stems and a group of small, thick leaves on top. In the centre of the pot is one Tomato plant, with a thicker stem and larger, flatter leaves. The tomato plant has one tiny, yellow flower starting to bloom on the very top. The plants are a rich, medium green colour. A terracotta coloured plant pot situated on a balcony in the sun. The plants in the pot on the left are significantly healthier looking, being a rich shade of medium green and more upturned leaves, while the plants in the pot on the right have some down turned leaves, and a yellow tone is seeping up the stems into the leaves, making the plants closer to a lemon yellow colour.
