I also have to give credit to the Kendrick and Drake beef because it got me and my older kid listening to hip hop music, and now we collect and listen to records together. It's been wonderful. That's my little vinyl rant as a 90s kid who only learned to use a record player last year. :)

But playing vinyl records has exploded my horizons with music, and I enjoy it so much more because it threw me into the habit of experiencing albums as contained linear projects again, rather than something to dissect and skip through and then throw the "best" tracks onto a playlist.

I was really stuck in the trap of making Spotify playlists and sticking all kinds of tracks on them that I liked, which can be great! But something was missing and I couldn't really have told you about my "favorite" musicians, it was all over the place.

Luckily my dad had held on to my brother's old turntable which he probably got in 1980, and he helped me set it up with an old amp and speakers in my living room. It has completely changed how I listen to music!
