even feels safe and smiles. the crowd knows what’s coming next too. he shoves his empty cup into his back pocket. five, six, five, six, seven, eight! even snaps and claps and body rolls. he sends his arms up for the H and wide for the T.

“ow!”

he pushes. he apologizes. he holds his cup above people’s heads and pretends he’s trying to find his friends. he makes it about halfway into the crowd when he decides to stop. he knows the set list, that hot to go comes next. he ends up next to a guy whose curls bounce as he tries not to dance.

even has five minutes left on his shift at the beer tent. he can hear femininomenon. he’s dancing at the tap, trying to ignore the assholes at the till. and then he’s free! he grabs half of a cup to chug on the run over to the crowd, but he’s already feeling hopeless. the crowd is huge.

the crowd gets louder on its own. it’s packed. it’s dark. isak feels safe and smiles. he sings.
