Mostly harmless. I like to take pictures with old film cameras and sometimes digital. I make stuff too. K6LOT
RIP Brian Wilson. A legend.

Here are the pics of the battery (see alt text for more info).
Of note: The black wires have some sort of device attached to them that I can't see well as the wire bulks up and is covered in a shrink tubing before reaching the '-' negative terminals on the other side.

This is what my battery looks like. Hope it helps.

How it started... how it's going:
February 3, 2025 at 1:44 AM
I'm finally finished! Here's a close up:
February 3, 2025 at 1:39 AM
Spray painted the brackets black along with the bolt heads.

Stripped it to mostly metal:

And here is the second set to be refinished (before):

Now one of the doors is completely finished! Just need to repeat the brackets and bolts for the other door.
January 29, 2025 at 9:13 PM
I sanded down the brackets and bolts for one of the doors. Primed and painted them.
January 29, 2025 at 9:13 PM
And then I reinstalled them:

So I finished painting the back panels of the doors

A story in two parts:

Well we ended up having to evacuate last night. This is how close the sunset fire got to us:

View from the backyard. We aren’t that close to the fires and can’t smell them because of the high winds. Hoping we are spared.

Ok here’s the doors with the final coats on them. There are three primer coats and two top coats. All I need to do now is stain the back panels that go behind the slats and spray paint the artisanal brackets and reattach them.

Oh the amount of time spent in front of this door. Only a few more coats to go.
December 14, 2024 at 3:00 AM
And here’s both doors with the first coat. 5 hours of work.
December 5, 2024 at 2:38 AM
Finally making some visible progress. Here’s the first coat of stain (four more to go) on one of the two doors. Hopefully the additional coats will better hide the wood filler. It really stands out now.

Had a bit of an issue with the stain cracking on the third coat. Not sure why, usually this happens when you do thin over a thick layer. But this looks like the whole thing melted. Anyway I tried to sand it down to fix it. If you look in the lower right you can see the crackling and running. :(

Got the first coat of stain on the trim but ran out of time for today.
December 3, 2024 at 10:54 PM
Here’s some close ups of the wood filling. I’m a bit worried it won’t hold the stain the same as the wood but tomorrow is finally when I start staining the outside of the doors. Excited to get this finished already.

I really should send you mine- it's sitting here ready to go.
We originally had the "toaster" too which was a 5.25" drive that connected to the DataGeneral. Have no idea where that went...

I love those vanishing point pens- I have a few that I love- only the decimo is inked up at the moment however-

This band I went to see the other night released an album with a cover that is a PCB that’s a fully working synth. I bought the kit and built it. Here’s the first few seconds with it:
