shelob's lair, mordor, and the unique cards you get for completing tracks on the boards.
on the shelob's lair one, note little freak gollum in the top-left.
aragorn is aged, legolas is beautiful, gimli is shellshocked, and the riders of rohan have a cute little horse on their helmets.

first batch - story tracker, moria, helm's deep, basic cards, and the playable hobbits.
fatty bolger's here, in case you want to play with 5 people.
some things in here make me think they must've been after the movie, then i remember how thorough tolkien was

this reminded me of a pre-jackson lotr board game i played as a kid

the second External Link has tiny pictures of the boards, but it's hard to find good ones, or any pictures of the cards
might reply to this later with pictures of my copy

how can you criticize someone for getting a new phone every year when that's less than a month of rent alone, ignoring food, insurance, water, gas, electricity, phone service, internet, surprise health and car troubles...
the biggest luxury i can imagine is buying a house and that doesn't count??

not visual art, but i'm a big fan of johan de meij's lotr symphony from the '80s
split into "Gandalf", "Lothlórien", "Gollum", "Journey in the Dark", and "Hobbits" (the yt description has timestamps for each)

mine is that if the game is first-person, it should have a kick button

i like this game and how speed actually affected how often you got a turn

i really appreciate getting to see the things i find joy in expressed like this, and knowing that the artist (you!) finds joy in them too
(true of all your art, just really made clear for me here)

this is true across all your stuff but this one really brings it out for me: your coloring is so beautiful
the contrast here between the shining gold and the blue sky behind it, echoed with the leaves and the water
it's really good!

oh yeah also the soundtrack rips
some metal, some full orchestral (with blazing brass), some lovely vocal duets
and very frequently in odd meter. appropriate in a game where time is the enemy.

2) the biggest pain point was definitely going for upgrades in the leadup to credits, everything since then has been a lot smoother. sucks that the worst part is right before the designated exit point for people with other things to do.

okay hades 2 objective 2 complete at night 116, thoughts:
1) magick does actually make sense, especially with the other weapon aspects that encourage using it. going simple for the base ones works well.

listening to this again
it's so good

3) runs are too long for the tiny and random loot numbers.
it's play for an hour straight of gradually increasing pressure for the tiniest progress toward your reward. wish there was an out after each area, a way to do just one area, etc.
i like the shorter chaos things, but they're barely relevant
October 6, 2025 at 11:24 AM
got credits on night 44 (with 13 chaos nights, so kind of 31?)
thoughts:
1) best "quit to menu" button in the industry
2) magick feels like it's here to make me never do moves that i'd otherwise rarely do

sorry, how does this one come into it? i assume there's context here that i don't know
