Greetings from Israeli prisons. We were intercepted aboard the boat Madleen 110 nautical miles off the coast of Gaza-that is, in the middle of international waters. This was an act of piracy. We are used to dealing with a rogue state. It is urgent that our European governments impose concrete sanctions on Israel: an end to arms sales, a suspension of diplomatic relations, official recognition of the Palestinian state, and a full economic and cultural boycott of the country. The fact that Israel is now rushing to intercept boats farther and farther out in international waters shows just how deeply threatened they feel by the growing outcry against the ongoing genocide in Gaza.

A non-Labour supporting pensioner writes to Labour councillor David Sedgwick - a member of the 'Trigger Me Timbers' WhatsApp group - asking about bin collections: Dear Mr Sedgwick, Whilst I am in no way responsible for your re-election... I thought this would be an appropriate time to contact you with regard to bin collections. My husband and I... are both 72 years old... Sedgwick puts the letter on the WhatsApp group. Will DeepSeek save us from the smug tech broligarchy? No only a mass global insurrection against the dictatorship of capital will do that - in fact DeepSeek will make it cheaper and easier to put AI in everything, but at least we got to laugh at some of the worst people in the world briefly.

One has to wonder how hard our MP @julietcampbellmp.bsky.social, fought to make sure the community has the resources it needs. But then she doesn't live here.
It’s an absolute disgrace that @broxtowebc has received the joint lowest budget settlement of any authority in the entire country. And Broxtowe’s MP has clearly not fought our corner.

He had no symptoms other than some "manageable neck pain," and nothing out of the ordinary showed up on a routine X-ray and an MRI wasn't possible due to insurance delays. A week later, Rogers started losing some sensation in his hands and tried to have the MRI rescheduled, but the approval from his insurance company never came. While waiting for said approval, he and his family holidayed in northern California and by the time he returned on December 30, he says he lost "about 20 percent sensation and a similar amount of mobility in both arms." Rogers said it will be around four to six weeks before he returns to basic independence and is able to travel, but a full recovery will take up to six months. He begins a course of physical therapy today, but his insurance will only cover the first of three required weeks, prompting friends to set up a fundraiser to cover the difference.
