Scraping away the benefits the government brings to people is like scraping away society itself. These are hard fought gains, and typically the result of a compromise to avoid violence.
Removing the norms and niceties and laws reveals these violent underpinnings of our society. That’s their goal.

The next 4 years are going to be awful for many, but if there’s one thing I remember from the previous Trump Presidency, every day is a learning experience. Every day we see some essential norm or function of government that is being deprived, and we are then reminded of its role and importance.

I’ll probably use this as a sounding board for political rants, like everyone else seems to use social media, but I want to use this to more examine our position in history.
