Formed in February 2010, the voluntary group now has over 200 members. It has received an annual Green Flag Award since 2017, as one of the best green spaces in the world.

As it is Halloween, please do NOT discard pumpkins in the wood. The creatures who live there have plenty of food, nuts, berries, seeds, etc. Pumpkins are not native to the UK & can cause positive harm to #hedgehogs by giving them severe diarrhoea, which can eventually kill them. 🌱 @rspb.bsky.social

We have been informed by Derby Parks that as wind gusts of over 45 mph are expected at 10.00 am on Saturday it will not be safe to work inside the wood and therefore our October Task Event should be postponed until the following Saturday, 11 October 🌱 @derbyswildlife.bsky.social @rspb.bsky.social

We won! Yesterday the planning application for 150 houses on land North of Chaddesden Wood was REFUSED!

Thank you to the nearly 1500 people who objected to the planning application, to Oakwood’s councillors & Jonathan Davies, MP.

Without your help, we could not have got the result we received. 🌱
