I don't think it's going to put people at or near the top of their field out of business. If you want quality, then you need a highly trained person doing the work. But with that said, most of what people are producing isn't special. It's basic replacement level, and AI can do a lot of it.
As a historian and one that is technologically savvy, do you think that ChapGPT will put historians, English writers, etc., out of business? Hope not. At the same time, for me with only a MA in history looking for work, I've been tempted to sign up for AI jobs online.
